The Durnford Society

Based in Plymouth, The Durnford Society is a voluntary organisation founded in 1980. We provide a variety of services in and around the Plymouth area for adults with a learning disability. Our services are underpinned by our stated values of; Commitment, Care & Support, Integrity, Wellbeing, Empowerment and Competence.

Parkstone Lane is a registered care home providing specialist complex care support for individuals with Learning disabilities. The home is small and provides care and support for up to four people. There is one bedroom that can accommodate physical needs.

Oaklands is a registered care home providing specialist complex care support for individuals with Learning disabilities. The home has capacity to support up to nine people. Based within a bungalow, Oaklands has provision to deal with all physical needs.

Supported Living & Domiciliary Care: Providing home care and support, the service can support with personal care needs, through to daily tasks such as shopping. The Service is registered with CQC and is regulated, is a contracted and approved provider with Plymouth City Council and is an accredited End of Life provider from St Luke’s.

This service is for individuals who require 24 hour support and care

We meet regularly and as needed when issues arise, and I find The Durnford Society very approachable and committed to resolving issues and making plans as and when the need arises. They are a highly responsive organisation

Supporting my relative to maintain capacity and independence is not easy… staff cope with the challenges and dilemmas with kindness and enthusiasm

As my relatives needs are changing he needs more support with mobility and care, The Durnford Society has adapted accordingly and willingly

I enjoy a strong and supportive relationship with the Service Manager, Team Leader and most support staff

They (the management) are extremely supportive and nothing is to much trouble for them.

Their commitment and value base means we are able to work through issues which inevitably arise

We have a Manager and a Deputy who are understanding and have encouraged us to be the best service possible

She (the Registered Manager) comes out and will support me. She’s lovely and I can talk to her if I’m worried.

We feel The Durnford Society Management Team do respond quickly to any issues and resolve effectively

I’ve received support for 5 years and all the staff are brilliant to me
